The general methods for direct reinforcement include:

(1) Reinforced concrete external layer reinforcement method. This method belongs to a type of composite section reinforcement method. Its advantages are simple construction technology, strong adaptability, significantly improved bearing capacity after masonry reinforcement, and mature design and construction experience; Suitable for reinforcing columns and walls with walls; Its disadvantage is that the wet construction time on site is long, which has a certain impact on production and life, and the net clearance of the reinforced building is reduced to a certain extent.
(2) Reinforcement method with external layer of steel, cement and mortar. This method also belongs to a type of composite section reinforcement method. Its advantages are similar to those of the reinforced concrete external layer reinforcement method, but it does not improve the bearing capacity as much as the former; Suitable for the reinforcement of masonry walls, sometimes also used for the closure of wall penetrating stirrups on both sides of reinforced concrete external layer reinforcement with wall columns.

(3) Add the method of reinforcing buttresses and columns. This method belongs to a type of reinforcement method with enlarged cross-section. Its advantages are also similar to the reinforcement method of reinforced concrete outer layer, but the increase in bearing capacity is limited and it is difficult to meet seismic requirements, generally only applied in non seismic areas.
