To replace the drain valve of the pulsator washing machine, a new valve and tool need to be prepared. After cutting off the power, the old valve should be disassembled and a new part should be installed.
1. Preparation tools and accessories require a Phillips screwdriver, pliers, and a new drain valve (model to match the washing machine). When purchasing a new valve, it is recommended to take photos of the old parts or record the washing machine model. Corresponding accessories can be purchased at home appliance repair shops or e-commerce platforms.
2. Safely disconnect the power plug of the washing machine and close the inlet valve. Use a towel to absorb any residual water from the inner cylinder to prevent water leakage during disassembly.
3. Disassemble the old valve and tilt the washing machine back 45 degrees (with an old towel at the bottom to prevent scratches), then use a screwdriver to remove the rear cover plate. Find the valve connecting the drainage pipe, loosen the pipe clamp with pliers, and pull out the drainage pipe. Remove the screws or buckles that fix the valve, and be sure to pry open the spring buckles with a flat screwdriver.
4. Install the new valve and align it with the installation slot to push it in, ensuring that the rubber sealing ring is fully fitted. Fix the screws or buckles as they are, reconnect the drainage pipe and tighten the pipe clamp. Before reinstalling the rear cover, briefly power on to test if the drainage is smooth. Valve rubber aging is a common problem, and a thin layer of silicone grease can be applied to extend the life of the sealing ring when installing a new valve. If the drainage motor is damaged at the same time (manifested as no suction sound from the valve), it is necessary to contact a professional for repair.
